An Audiologist specializes in diagnosing and treating individuals with hearing loss and balance disorders. Although this used to require a masters degree, the entry level degree for the field is now a clinical or research doctorate degree. There are a variety of settings that you may find audiologists including private practice settings, schools, government health facilities and agencies, medical centers and hospitals, as well as colleges and universities. When a hearing loss or balance disorder requires medical or surgical treatment, audiologists refer individuals to physicians.
